RP 44

On Monday September 22nd 2003 Soca Sailboats Limited proudly launched its latest custom built sailboat, ‘Storm’.  Storm is a one off, 44ft Racing Sailboat designed by the world-renowned  company, Reichel-Pugh Yacht Design, of San Diego, California.  The Sailboat has been built entirely from Carbon fiber and Herex foam in SP Systems Ampreg 22 epoxy. All the parts were vacuum consolidated over fully surfaced molds and post cured in a large oven at Soca Sailboats fully equipped facility. Full engineering was provided by SP Technologies of the UK, with equipment specifications and system installation drawings coming from Reichel-Pugh Yacht Design.

Soca Spars a subsidiary of Soca Sailboats built the carbon pre-preg mast, boom, spinnaker pole and reaching strut. The engineering for these was completed by Bruce Thompson and Keith Carew, formerly of BMW Oracle Americas Cup syndicate.

Paul Amon, Managing Director of Soca Sailboats is an experienced engineer, as well as an avid sailboat racer from England. He has once again incorporated his passion for sailing with his ability as a professional craftsman in this project. His projects have earned Soca Sailboats the reputation for high quality finish, attention to detail and on time performance. It was on this merit that a contract was negotiated with Mr. Les Crouch of San Diego, who placed his confidence in Soca Sailboats for this custom built project.

Storm is the latest in the line of high profile projects completed at Soca Sailboats Limited The past projects include; the tooling and production of the Henderson 30 Sport-boat of which thirty were built and exported to the USA.
