DESIGN The Henderson 35 is designed as a fast racer with all of the racing deck gear attributes. The enormous cockpit is very open with plenty of room for crew
work. There are nice features such as the pit well in the back off the cabin. Many of the controls are underdeck. The rounded sheer, "bubble" type cabin all reduces resistance and windage.
The hull and appendages are designed for premium performance upwind. The very fine entry with much hollow in the bow allows low resistance in a chop.
The keel, developed in a computer analysis program, has a bulb on the bottom for a lower center of gravity. The bulb shape is designed for vortex control and minimum wetted surface. It was cast and templated at Soca Sailboats.
The rudder is built using the patented "VARA" system. This lets you raise and lower the rudder to optimize feel and drag
reduction. The ultra-high aspect ratio contributes enormously to the upwind ability. The boat is beamy at topside so crew weight is very effective. The beam waterline is narrow for less drag.
The double spreader carbon mast is built by Soca Spars,
mast bend is controlled with runners and checkstays. The gooseneck, vang bracket, halyard spectacles and spreaders are also manufactured in carbon. The mast is stepped down through the deck onto an adjustable mast base.
ENGINE
The Yanmar 3GM sail drive is fresh water cooled. Full access to all sides of the engine is easily gained by sliding forward the chart table.
The instruments and electrical panel are also easily accessed. For further Details E-mail Paul Amon:
